Release Notes
A previously unreleased live performance
Completely recorded, from the pre-show commotion to the announcements encouraging the audience to leave
Best sound quality of any AUD recording from the 2002 Japan tour
Bonus tracks also included, including a debut performance
Completely recorded performance at the Sendai City Gymnasium on October 5, 2002. This performance has never been released on CD before, making its debut here. It's a stunningly high-quality DAT recording, beautifully recorded without any annoying squeals or clapping. Blessed with the venue's unique characteristics, this is perhaps the best sound quality of any performance from the 2002 Japan tour.
From the pre-show commotion and the opening "This Is Not A Drill - Fuckin' In The Bushes" to the "Chanpagne Supernova" playing in the venue after the show and the announcements encouraging the audience to leave, this recording captures the atmosphere of the day perfectly, not even for a moment. It's amazing that such recordings, lying dormant until now, are finally being released into the world after a quarter of a century.
As an aside, after the concert, Liam went out into the streets of Sendai with the staff and drank heavily until 2am, while Noel, Andy and Gem headed to a sushi restaurant. Noel's favourite foods are tuna, shrimp and kappa rolls. Gem was apparently eating conger eel for the first time and was impressed by how delicious it was. After eating at the sushi restaurant, they continued drinking at a bar well into the night, showing no signs of exhaustion despite having to fly to Hiroshima the next day. At this point, all the band members were in their 30s, and Liam had just celebrated his 30th birthday. They were still young and physically capable of pushing themselves.
The bonus tracks feature two shows, both of which are first-time live performances and first-time recordings. In addition to "Wonderwall" and "Live Forever," MAKE TRADE FAIR also features Noel on guitar and chorus on "Yellow" and "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before." This is a beautiful picture disc with a sturdy press for permanent preservation.
