Taper Comments: Before I first posted this (#210999) I checked Oasis' discography, and it only listed one live concert available on album/ DVD and VHS- the July 21, 2001 show from Wembley, U.K. But that got canned because "champagne supernova" was available on a "bonus CD" in a limited number of copies of a live VHS release from various locations in 1995 and 96 called "there and then". (this release was not indicated on the wiki's Oasis discography page I got when I looked it up, if it had been this song would not have been posted.) In any case, that's the only released track in this concert, so now it will fit on one 80 min. disc if you cut out the track 18 encore break babble.) this is what happens when we upload almost any FM broadcast of these stuck to my shoes bubble gum bands. for the first time in awhile and hopefully for awhile too, it's another glasnostrd19 chopped liver production. (it will be the last of those if I can make it so, I don't like these and I know alot of DL'ers don't either! Especially when it's an "official release" bonus disc cut that you can't get any more!!!) but if any uploader will try to bring you Alcohol Free Oasis, it's glasnostrd19. No champagne here, appropriate I guess, since I can't drink it anyway.

this is from a live FM sattelite broadcast from the morning glory tour, and soon before "be here now", the 3rd and biggest of Oasis' now 7 studio albums. They only have one officially released album according to the wiki artists listing of releases, a Wembley concert from July 21, 2001 which is also available (officially) on DVD and VHS. At this point, this may have been Oasis' biggest gig (in terms of size of audience in attendance.) Knebworth is for Genesis and Robert Plant concerts in the U.K. (among other comparably major attractions), and they would have many more to follow. this show also had an international radio audience, and I think this is the whole show except for a momentary gap (which I spliced) near the end of track 3 (acquiesce). It's all on a reel side so there's no tape flip gap, just a couple of commercial breaks which are edited out. The closing credits had an official track being talked over, and to avoid any possible "released content" issues of conflict with this torrent, I didn't include those. All the music heard in here is from the August 11, 1996 concert. A sort of homecoming for one of the biggest Brit pop bands in the world at this time, almost as big as Pearl Jam was in America then. I don't listen to this much at all, but I know alot of folks like these guys and they released their 7th studio album in 2008, called "dig out your soul".

this concert was when Oasis was clearly the next big thing in britpop.

Liam opens the show with some incoherent mumbling and a brief refrain from Blur's Parklife "All the people...". This (along with The Swamp Song over the PA system) was edited out of the official release.

Columbia opens with Liam asking the crowd "Knebworth, Mad Fer It, Yeah...?"

125,000 witnessed each of the Knebworth nights... Apparently 5% of the population applied for tickets over the special hotlines that were in place. British Rail issued special "Oasis" train tickets for the day...

For the Radio 1 broadcast on the second night they weren't allowed to broadcast the new songs, so Radio 1 used the versions of "Live Forever", "Champagne Supernova" and "I Am The Walrus" from the first night.

The Second Summer Of Love - The Film from Bayswater features VHS transfers of the Promo Video of the second night, the audience-shot video of this night (with a choice of original/remastered audio!) and also includes a bonus CD with audio from the 1st nignt. The 1st night video included on this release is a pretty ropey high-gen transfer from the audience-shot VHS and every now and again a massive "BAYSWATER" logo appears on screen. The first part is largely filming the video screens, and the second part is shot from the crowd. For fans only.

There are a couple of different versions of the audience-shot video in circulation, all are very ropey and for collectors only. You can hear the taper get accosted during the outro to "It's Getting Better Man" (sounds like they got caught taping the show - a man approaches him and repeatedly shots "EXCUSE ME"). The next two songs are missed, but the recording picks up for "I Am The Walrus".

On September 23, 2021 the band finally officially released Knebworth 1996 on Audio CD/DVD/Blu-ray. The Blu-ray edition contains a DTS 6-channel audio source of both nights along with "Knebworth: The Documentary" (which already had a theatrical release in cinemas).

@edwardbhb on Live4Eever has provided a rundown of the edits made to the officially release video footage:

So first of all I think the most obvious thing, that is in both concerts, is that they used different camera angles then in before released official footage. This you can notice when you compare Columbia (08/10) from the full concert to the footage that was included in snippets in the 2016 Supersonic documentary, where when Liam says "Knebworth mad for it?" in the doc the camera shows a closeup on Liams face while the concert video shows an angle where we can see Liam from the front. In my opinion I liked the angle that was used for Supersonic. I also wanted to mention that in the Supersonic doc different footage from different songs, from the first night, were used like footage from Noel that is from the My Big Mouth performance.

2nd Night (August 11, 1996)

1st Night (August 10, 1996)
• first of all the The Swamp Song was removed and the footage was shortened but you can hear the beginning of the song a little bit
• Noels and Liams Parklife (Sadlifes) banter was removed. The official footage just starts with Noel putting on his guitar and then cuts were the banter would start and continues with Noel wanting to go a second time to the amps but starts to begin Columbia. You can notice the cut a bit when you watch Liam in the background, as Noel puts on his guitar Liam goes to his mic then the footage cuts to a different angle were Liam is standing at Whiteys drums and filling some beer in a cup.
• the next banter that was removed is the banter were Liam asks the crowd "Is anyone out there who got BSE?" before Round Are Way. The footage just cuts from Noel standing to his amps to a different angle directed to the crowd and then back to Noel standing at his mic saying "alright... Round Are Way"
• the next thing was edited or rather corrected is the voice crack in Live Forever. In the 3rd time the Chorus repeats, on "...wanna live I don't wanna die..." Liam voice cracks on die. In the official release this was corrected by either using pitch correction or using another vocal from before or the second night. This also occurs during My Big Mouth were Liam cracks a bit on the chorus parts. I think pitch correction was used to limit the voice cracks. The raw not corrected parts can be heard on the Be Here Now 2016 Anniversary edition.
